I have been practicing yoga for over 20 years. Over that time, I have tried almost all its incarnations but the yoga that always appealed to me was with teachers who used pranayama as part of their practice and the slow connection of movement to breath. Studying more about the breath was a natural next step. It has thoroughly enhanced my life and I am amazed on a daily basis of the joy it brings me.
Based in London I am a mother of 3 and this has made the need to take time for myself and breath a priority. I have worked the majority of my life in the retail industry, most recently in a corporate role.
I have always been a seeker of tools to enhance my own life and hope to bring my acquired knowledge to enhance the life of others.
I have found breath work to be a discipline like no other. Although we breath without conscious effort, most of us are only breathing to a third of our capacity. To reach full capacity we need to learn to breath using our diaphragm. To breath consciously is to become utterly present, right here, right now. To gain agency over ourselves. It is an invaluable tool in this frenetic world we live in.
“A tree growing out of the ground today as it ever was. It does not need to adopt new and startling methods”
Robert Henri
It amazes me that we each have our own breathing pattern, like a finger print. This pattern can be affected by the many things that have happened in our lives. As we learn to work with our breath, stretching it, softening it, pumping it, we learn to trust it to help us find the blocks stopping us moving forward in our lives.
I qualified as a Yoga Alliance RYT-200 yoga teacher in 2019 and certified as a Yoga Alliance breath work teacher in 2023.
